Johnny Depp enters the world of slapstick comedy with Mortdecai. Will his fan base respond or will they just wait for the actor to return to a more familiar role? This week BoxOffice takes a look at the film's commercial prospects.

Mortdecai
(Lionsgate)

PROS:

- The impressive ensemble cast also features Gwyneth Paltrow, Ewan McGreggor and Olivia Munn.
- Adult crowds could be in the mood for a goofy comedy after taking in Oscar contenders.

CONS:

- Depp's drawing power is not what it once was. The actor is definitely on a losing streak lately.
- Reactions to the trailer on Facebook and Twitter have not been overly enthusiastic.
