Disney's Ant-Man led the daily box office on Monday with $6.40 million. The Paul Rudd led superhero film from Marvel has claimed first place at the daily box office three of the past four days. The film was down 58 percent from Sunday, which was in line with the type of daily percentage holds wide releases experienced in general on Monday. Ant-Man surpassed the $60 million mark on Monday and has grossed $63.63 million in four days. That is on the very low end of pre-release expectations. Ant-Man is currently running 4 percent ahead of the $61.42 million four-day start of 2008's The Incredible Hulk and 13 percent behind the $72.81 million four-day take of 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger.

Minions placed in a close second with $5.78 million. The blockbuster 3D computer animated spin-off from Universal and Illumination Entertainment continues to show signs of significant front-loading as it was down 60 percent from Sunday and down a sharp 55 percent from last Monday. In the bigger picture, Minions is still performing extremely well, especially with its relatively modest cost for a computer animated film in mind. Minions has grossed $221.54 million in eleven days, which places the film 3 percent ahead of the $215.37 million eleven-day take of 2013's Despicable Me 2.

Fellow Universal release Trainwreck took third place with $3.54 million. The critically acclaimed Amy Schumer led comedy from director Judd Apatow decreased 57 percent from Sunday's performance. Trainwreck continues to perform just ahead of the high end of its wide ranging expectations with a promising four-day take of $33.63 million. That places the film 15 percent ahead of the $29.24 million four-day launch of 2011's Bridesmaids and 4 percent behind the $35.13 million four-day take of 2007's Knocked Up. Trainwreck is highly likely to hold up very well throughout the rest of the summer.

Inside Out claimed fourth with $1.58 million. The blockbuster 3D computer animated film from Disney and Pixar was down 53 percent from Sunday and down just 34 percent from last Monday. Inside Out continues to impress with a 32-day take of $307.83 million. The film should continue to hold up well going forward thanks in part to strong word of mouth and the relative lack of other high-profile animated releases throughout the rest of the summer.

Universal's Jurassic World rounded out Monday's top five with $1.37 million. The 3D sci-fi adventure blockbuster sequel fell 58 percent from Sunday and a solid 36 percent from last Monday. Jurassic World has grossed a massive $612.60 million in 39 days of release. The film is currently the fourth highest grossing film of all-time domestically without adjusting for ticket price inflation and is now just $10.76 million away from passing the $623.36 million final gross of 2012's Marvel's The Avengers to move into third place on the list.
